Our basic DNA friends kit model brings protein synthesis to life. It adds foam tRNAs, amino acid shapes and special uracil (U) tubes to your DNA Model. As a result, students watch a cell build a protein step by step.
What the basic DNA friends kit model teaches
DNA stores the code, but proteins do the work. So with this kit, students follow the code from DNA to RNA. Then they continue to a chain of amino acids. In fact, each tRNA piece carries an amino acid shape, just like transfer RNA in the cell.
Model mutations
For example, swap one tube and students see how a single change in the code can change the protein. In addition, the NIH glossary offers a short, clear definition of transfer RNA to share with your class.
Works with your DNA model
The kit goes along with the Dynamic 3D DNA Model. Also, the tubes follow the same color scheme as the model. Because of that, students skip learning a new system.
